Where there is food there is love!

A few years ago, as I layed on the back deck of my sisters house, soaking in all the vitamin D, embracing my "escape" from the Manitoban winters, I was pondering on how everything created on planet earth was frankly indescribable. No picture nor words can fully satisfy what we see or feel in our lives. Yet, I would like to attempt to paint you a picture in which you can look and ponder upon. I believe God speaks to us in unceasing ways And although there are many wordly distractions, I hope this may be a very simple reminder to stop - take a look at the clouds and let it nourish your spiritual life. Have you ever just quietly gaged your attention to the sky? If you haven't, I highly recommend it. It's amazing how clouds can be so mesmerizing! I might sound crazy (well let’s be real, I am), but after spending these few minutes looking up to a whole new world, I realized how clouds can represent us as humans so accurately. We can look out the window one morning and it can be a rainy day, a partly cloudy day and even sometimes a shaggy ol' grey day, but in case you didn't realize it yet, the sun will always be shining on the other side, no matter what cycle the clouds are going through. As a comparison, it's hard as humans to always be happy, to be humble, to think of others before ourselves, etc. There's no doubt about it, but just like our dear friend Mr.Cloud, we likewise have grey days, light days, bright days and yes, even crying days. And again, like the sun, no matter what we are going through, God will always be there. Is it simply a coincidence that the clouds go through similar cycles as we do? Maybe, but I find it inspiring that even clouds, a perfect creation made from God, not man, but our Creator, will effortlessly shape itself every second of the day; a single cloud can be transformed in so many ways and that, my friends, is what I want to thrive for! I believe we should all thrive for something so beautiful, for something bigger than ourselves. Wether it's sticking around with other clouds or parting from one another, the clouds always seem to allow themselves to be molded and seek a new journey. Personally, as a christian, who wouldn't want to continuously seek in becoming a better version of themselves? We simply need to keep in mind that no matter how grey or bright our clouds get, our "Son" will always, always, always (did I say always?) be there to shine His rays on us. Look up child; He is with you.

HEY LADIES! This blog is inspired by my personal journey through motherhood and fitness. I have been a student, an athlete, a personal trainer, a coach, a group class instructor, and the most challenging vocation of them all has been motherhood. Because of my own struggles with the transition from career woman and spouse to mom, I have always loved hearing another woman’s experience, from her pregnancy, to her birth story, all the way to her current sentiments. I believe that lifting each other up through encouragement and love is always the right answer. Our aim is to create a space where movement is our medium and that the mama community comes together, where all experiences are heard through understanding ears and an empathetic heart. Strong Like a Mother is a community where every mother will be welcomed with open arms and that whatever her journey may look like, that she has got a friend in us. We believe that strength looks more holistic than ever, not only presenting physically, but also in a spiritual and mental capacity. Our mission is to give you the tools and education you need to feel secure and confident as you journey through your own pregnancy and postpartum chapters. Whether we feel ready or not, motherhood immerses us in opportunities to grow in strength. These opportunities are often paired with feelings of helplessness, frustration, loneliness, exhaustion, and these feelings are not exactly moments that we love. The sufferings that a mother endures are one of the most powerful example of Gods love. «Love cannot remain by itself – it has no meaning. Love has to be put into action, and that action is service. » – St. Teresa of Calcutta Mamas, I know it’s tempting to give in to the desire to “get your body back” and our athlete brain sometimes creates unrealistic expectations during a tender time. Strength in this postpartum period presents itself as grace and discipline. We are all so ready to jump back into the old routine because 9 months in a pregnant body feels like a long time. What you need to know is that this time is in fact temporary and that practicing patience in your fitness life will create more function for the future. It is OKAY to want goals and to return to the activities you love most. We love that. It is OKAY to take a break and be with baby for a while. We honour that. Most of all, we want you to know that YOU WILL return to what you love doing and that we want you to be educated throughout the process. We can teach you how to get there while simultaneously giving your body the time & love it needs to repair. For us, it is important to meet you where you are and progress from there. I hope that you feel encouraged to reach out and bring your attention on creating a life full of joy. ————————— Chantal Schriemer is a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, proud mother of three, dedicated wifey, the “crazy friend”, a lover of music & life.
